Kenneth Schechter

Kenneth Schechter serves as an Advisor at Highland Street Capital and provides oversight of the firm's strategic direction. Mr. Schechter has more than 35 years of experience founding and leading real estate platforms through multiple market cycles. He has broad expertise across all facets of the real estate industry, with a particular focus on acquisitions, restructurings, and capital markets.
Mr. Schechter also serves as a Founding Principal at Parallel and Parallel Holdings, a private real estate company with investments in retail, industrial, residential and office assets across the risk spectrum. Parallel's senior management team has owned and operated several million square feet of commercial real estate and has provided asset management, distressed debt restructuring, and other consulting services for over $20.0 billion of institutional assignments. Past partners and clients have included Dune Real Estate Partners​, Marathon Asset Management, Starwood Capital Group (formerly, LNR Property Company) and Wells Fargo (formerly, Wachovia Bank).​

Prior to Parallel, Mr. Schechter served as the President and Founder of Parallel Capital, a private real estate debt investment platform that helped pioneer non-bank CMBS lending. At Parallel Capital, he directed, structured and originated over $5.5 billion in commercial real estate loans and expanded the firm to over 20 offices throughout the United States. Before Parallel Capital, Mr. Schechter served as the Managing Partner of TCS Group, a New York City owner and operator of several thousand apartment units in the New York metropolitan area.
